Joe's Wine Resources  at  JAMcafé

Brock University's Antonia Mantonakis has studied how labels impacts consumers' perceptions of wine.

When presented with the same glass of wine in the same glass in the same environment, people are more likely to believe the harder-to-pronounce wine tastes better.

Did you know
..... there are only 3 kinds of wine auctions allowed in Ontario:

1) the LCBO holds an annual auction of wine offered by private persons every October

2) charities can hold auctions of donated wines to raise funds

3) wines from the estates of bankrupt, deceased or divorced persons can be auctioned (some say these are all the same but contrary to popular belief, I have no opinion on that)

Rare Autochthonous Wines

 Autochthonous:

(pronounce: awe-talk-tawn-us)

1) Found in the place where they were originally formed

2) Inhabiting a place from the earliest known times; aboriginal.

In other words, these are native species and not transplants, imports or imposters.

FYI, I have found a medical research paper showing that some Autochthonous Wines have a somewhat higher anti-oxidant level which can bring several health benefits. See the original research from the US National Institutes of Health here… http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15553664
